Ananda Shankar & His Orchestra - "An Audio-Visual Experience" [LIVE on Indian TV] (ca. 1978)

Описание: Indian sitarist Ananda Shankar directs his east-west fusion band on melodic group compositions composed through the 1970s. The group includes several members formerly from High Noon, a Calcutta band of college-aged musicians, including Cyrus Tata (guitar). Ananda, son of legendary Indian dancer Uday Shankar and nephew of the great Ravi Shankar, was one of the few Indian musicians to attempt a mixture of western music with Indian classical forms from the eastern perspective.

It's rather astonishing that this incredible live performance has survived to the modern day. I've tried to upgrade the audio on this recording from the original upload. Many thanks to the original uploader for this incredible set!
