Located near Twechar in East Dunbartonshire, Bar Hill sits at the highest point of the Antonine Wall and once guarded the northernmost frontier of the Roman Empire over 1,800 years ago.

This short but scenic walk offers beautiful views of the Campsie Fells, fascinating Roman history, and a chance to explore the remains of the fort headquarters (Principia) and Roman bath house. It’s a perfect family-friendly day trip and a hidden gem we’d never visited before!
