On Saturday, February 14th, 2026, two friends and I traveled to Reading, Pa, to chase RBMN's Reading 2102 to Jim Thorpe and back. It was a very eventful trip, with air hoses disconnecting, throwing the train into emergency, and people running into the Tamaua Tunnel right in front of the train.
Clip 1: A brief snow-covered farm scene, very common in the area.
Clip 2: We first catch the 2102 crossing Cross Keys Rd, shortly after departing Reading Outer Station.
Clip 3: 2102 charges out of Port Clinton after making a brief stop to pick up more passengers. RBMN's steam shop is directly behind me on the opposite side of the tracks.
Clip 4: The train blows through Tamaqua, not even slowing for the station. Tamaqua's historic station, built in 1874, now serves as a restaurant and an occasional stop for RBMN excursions.
Clip 5: Our next stop was Lake Hauto, where the tracks run parallel to Pa-54.
Clip 6: Here we catch the big Northern rounding the final leg of the wye just outside of Jim Thorpe. The train will then reverse into Jim Thorpe's station.
Clip 7: After taking a 4 hour layover in Jim Thorpe, we catch the consist crossing Tonoli Rd, a few miles West of Nesquehoning.
Clip 8: Next, we meet the train at the East end of the Tamaqua Tunnel, just north of the tunnel's namesake. Here we catch a fellow railfanner entering the tunnel just ahead of the train, making for a scary scene. The full clip is posted on my channel.
Clip 9: In this final clip we catch the train pulling into Port Clinton, now being pulled by 2 EMD GP38-2's. The locomotive switch was made just moments before. In the foreground we see RBMN 1776, decorated to celebrate the US's 250th birthday. We also see RBMN 1983, commemorating the company's 40th anniversary.
As always, thank you for joining me and I hope to see you again soon.
