Rappelling technique gives soldiers a distinct advantage in battle scenarios. It allows troops to swoop down into a difficult enemy territory and launch an attack from the least expected quarters within no time. Rappelling requires nerves of steel, control and precision. Trainee soldiers at High Altitude Warfare School are focusing all their energies on perfecting technique to prepare for the upcoming rock craft test.

Some of the highest battlefields like Siachen can be unforgiving even for the toughest soldiers; where low oxygen level and sub-zero temperatures make it one of the most hostile places to live in, let alone fight. At HAWS Gulmarg which is situated close to 9,000 feet above sea level, Indian Army men train to survive and fight in the world’s highest battleground at 20,000 feet.
