As the Administration takes significant steps to power the country through pure renewable energy, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. joins the Department of Energy (DOE) and Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation (CREC) in leading the energization of Citicore Solar (CS) Batangas 1, the first solar baseload power plant in the Philippines, during a ceremonial switch-on on September 15, 2025.

Located in Barangays Lumbangan and Luntal within the Municipality of Tuy in Batangas, the CS Batangas 1 is a 197-megawatt-peak (MWp) solar power plant complemented with a 320-megawatt-hour (MWh) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), which enables the solar facility to store and deliver energy beyond the usual solar hours (10:00 AM – 2:00 PM), allowing it to provide a baseload level of power.

As it begins operation, the facility is expected to reduce carbon emissions by up to 265,933.5 tons and supply power to approximately 158,300 households. The project is part of the CREC’s commitment to deliver 5 gigawatts (GW) within five years, in accordance with the Philippines’ energy transition plan to reach a 50% renewable energy share in the energy mix by 2040.
