After more gas gets spilled, than actually goes in the gas tank, it's time to solve the problem. I decided to retrofit my modern tanks with the older style spout, and vent system that worked just fine for decades. Each can took just a few minutes to convert from a huge headache, to actually being able to use them, with ease, just like they should be.

Always use extreme caution when dealing with gas, and make sure the cans are dried out, and fumes dissipated. Sparks from the drill will highly likely ignite, and ruin your day.
FYI: drill bit is 5/16
