Scorching summer hits Italy with highs reaching nearly 50℃

Staying with Europe, scorching heatwaves are baking southern and eastern parts of the continent, but it seems the heat is focused on Italy.
Temperatures in major cities this week have hovered around 40 degrees Celsius - ten degrees more than the August average - and places down south, such as Napoli, even saw the mercury hit 49 degrees.
The country has even started to ration water amid an ongoing drought.
