Windows KILLS Ryzen FPS! This Free Utility Fixes It (Guide)

Описание: AMD's Ryzen processors are fantastic in games, particularly the x3d vcache variants. But there's a problem - Windows scheduler. In this video, I'll show you how to improve the performance of AMD Ryzen processors using the free application known as CPU Set Setter.

Once you've downloaded CPU Set Setter, extract it and then right click and run as admin. If you own a dual CCD Ryzen processor with vcache (eg, a Ryzen 9 9950x3d such as used in this video, or a 7900x3d and so on) two configurations will automatically be created. Cache and Frequency.

You will want to run games, generally speaking on the cache CCD. This provides the best performance and during my testing you see in the video, games such as Counter-Strike 2 and Resident Evil 4 Remake saw massive increases in performance. Other games including Cyberpunk 2077 did increase their FPS too.

Note - inside the extracted folder, there's also a tool to allow you to set CPU Set Setter as a startup app, I haven't done this because I wanted to choose when / if the app runs. But of course, you can do so.

You can also create custom configurations and this is great for non-dual CCD owners or if you want more freedom and flexibility in your configurations. For example, segmenting the second CCD for a few background applications.

Or if you own a single CCD CPU, such as a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, you could isolate a few cores specifically for applications like OBS or a media encoder if you create let's plays, and leave the other CPU cores/threads for games or other tasks.

I tested using the following system configuration:

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
NZXT X890E AM5 motherboard
Kingbank DDR5 48GB memory
ASUS ROG ASTRAL GeForce RTX 5090
Windows 11
All games patched to their latest version via either Steam or, in the case of cyberpunk 2077 GoG.

Settings used in games were shown in the benchmark graphs in the latter part of the video.
