Описание: Keighley is a town in West Yorkshire, near Bradford, set in the Aire Valley. It’s a typical industrial town of northern England that grew rapidly in the 19th century thanks to textiles and mills. Today, it still keeps many buildings from that era, while serving as a busy commercial and service centre for the surrounding area.

👉 Market Street – the main shopping street of Keighley. Here you’ll find chain stores, smaller independent shops, cafés, and restaurants. It’s the busiest part of town and the heart of everyday life.

👉 Low Street – running close to Market Street, this street feels calmer and more intimate. It has smaller shops, local family businesses, and carries more of a community character than a tourist one.

👉 St. Andrew’s Church – the main parish church in the centre of Keighley. Built in stone in Gothic style, its tower rises above the town. It’s not only a place of worship but also a landmark and a gathering point for community events.

👉 Town Hall – a Victorian, neo-Gothic building with a clock tower. It’s the seat of local government and one of the most distinctive buildings in Keighley, closing the central area with an imposing presence.

The town centre is compact – you can easily walk across it in 10–15 minutes. Keighley has a certain northern, industrial toughness, but also charm, especially if you enjoy Victorian architecture and the atmosphere of traditional Yorkshire towns.

🚉 Keighley Railway Station is right at the heart of the town. The first station opened in 1847, and the current Victorian building dates from 1883. It’s now Grade II listed, with plenty of that old stone-and-iron character.

🔥 What makes it special is that it’s not just a regular commuter stop. It’s also the start of the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway – a heritage line with steam trains and vintage carriages, famous for appearing in films like The Railway Children.

🔧 Recently, the station had a £10 million restoration, giving it new roofs, ramps, and canopies, while keeping its historic look.

🚂 So today, you can see modern Northern trains to Leeds or Skipton on one side, and on the other, a steam engine puffing away like it’s still the 19th century. A place where everyday travel meets living history.
