This video is my review of the Dunbarton Sin Compromiso. I haven’t had one in a while, but I’ve had at least four or five that I enjoyed so I thought I’d better get around to reviewing it.

The Sin Compromiso was one of the first releases by Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust, a relatively new company run by Steve Saka, who is well known for the Liga Privada and other Drew Estate classic smokes. The name translates to English as “Without Compromise,” which is also the motto of the company.

The Sin Compromiso has been around a few years now, and although it gets generally excellent reviews it flies under many smokers’ radar because Steve Saka and Cigar Aficionado reached what they refer to as “a mutual decision” for CA to never review Dunbarton brand cigars.

My experience is that the Sin Compromiso is an excellent cigar, and the one I smoked in this review matched my past experience.

Construction is excellent, although packed a little loose it had no impact on the smoking experience. Draw was perfect, and it had a straight burn that only required one minor touch-up pretty late in the game. No hint of unraveling or any other problems.

Wrapper on this is a dark, rich San Andres Negro which supposedly took three growing seasons of tweaking to get right. I guess it was worth it, because the flavor profile is wonderful. A bit of pepper to kick things off which settled back to medium-plus body and strength, Flavor profile was primarily coffee and a bit of chocolate – about halfway in, a bit of hickory entered the scene for a brief visit. All in all, I rated the smoking experience a 9.5/10.

At about US$18 for an under-one-hour smoke, the Sin Compromiso is no bargain. But it’s one case of a pricey cigar being worth it,
