Ontario Premier Doug Ford announces his government is investing up to $260 million to help employers and unions train workers, bringing the province’s total investment in its Skills Development Fund to $1.4 billion. Responding to questions from the press, the premier comments on the end of the LCBO workers’ two-week-long strike and U.S. President Joe Biden’s decision to not seek re-election.
Also in attendance at the news conference in Kitchener are David Piccini (Ontario minister of labour, immigration, training and skills development), Brian Riddell (MPP for Cambridge), Robert Cattle (executive director of the Canadian Tooling and Machining Association), Ian DeWaard (Ontario director of the Christian Labour Association of Canada), and Jeff MacIntyre (president of the Grand Valley Construction Association).
