AMTRAK RETURNS!! AMTRAK 108!! Amtrak, VIA, GO, & UPX at Roncy & TMC FT. TNYR & Others (JUN/27/2022)

Описание: After more than 2 years of suspension Amtrak's Maple Leaf is back! The Maple Leaf or Amtrak 98/97 is one out of 3 trains that Amtrak runs that serve cities in Canada. The others being the Adirondack (NYC-Montreal) and Amtrak Cascades (Eugene OR/Portland OR/Seattle WA-Vancouver). The Adirondack was supposed to return on July 19th although as far as I know it hasn't returned yet. I'm not exactly sure when the Cascades is going to return although they did run a test train to Vancouver a couple months ago. Amtrak 98/97 usually runs with 5 coaches and 1 locomotive and it was no different today. I'm very glad to see this train is up and running again! Amtrak 50th Anniversary unit 108 was the locomotive to lead the first train into Canada. This unit celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Amtrak in 1971 when Amtrak took over most passenger services in the US from railroads on the verge of bankruptcy such as Penn Central and Santa Fe. Amtrak 108 is painted in Amtrak's brand new "Phase 6" livery that are currently be painted on the new Siemens locomotives. Many locomotives in 2021 were repainted for this special occasion. Amtrak 108 actually hit a firetruck in 2010, however now it looks amazing in its new livery. Amtrak's return wasn't the only interesting event that night there was also a beautiful sunset across the Toronto skyline and a UPX deadhead run to Willowbrook. UP Express often deadheads on the Oakville Sub in the middle of the night. This was filmed with ‪@lionliu0508‬, ‪@TheNorthYorkRailfan‬, and ‪@gta-railfan2832‬.
