TMC claims the exercise is a ploy to manipulate voter lists before 2026 Assembly elections while BJP hails it as a transparency measure. Banerjee said, 'EC must reveal how many Rohingyas, Bangladeshis found in Bihar after SIR'. She said even if a single eligible voter is 'removed from the electoral rolls in Bengal' TMC would 'ensure the fall of BJP Govt's.
