Quick update from Brook Street Roundabout in Brentwood, Essex. This short clip shows the new slip road now fully open, and what it looks like in real traffic, lane markings, signs, and how the flow is being guided through the junction.
This is part of the wider M25 Junction 28 and A12 improvements, aimed at increasing capacity and cutting the queues that have backed up around this roundabout for years. National Highways have confirmed the new A12 off slip to the Brook Street Roundabout has opened, routing traffic over the new Maylands Bridge.
Has it reduced traffic on the roundabout yet? In theory, taking some movements off the roundabout should ease pressure, and the scheme is specifically intended to reduce congestion and queuing on the slip roads. Real world results can vary by time of day and as drivers get used to the new layout, so I would love to hear what you are seeing locally.
