Despite a drier spell of weather, the River Tone, is still running very high.
The river originates on Exmoor, is dammed at Clatworthy reservoir, and its tributaries help drain Exmoor, Brendon Hills. Quantock Hills, Blackdown Hills, and on through the Somerset moors, from before its confluence with the River Parrett, near Burrowbridge.
The River Parrett then flows to the Bristol Channel / Severn Estuary, with some water going via Monk's Leaze Clyse / Sowy River / King Sedemoor Drain / and Dunball sluice, as flood relief. A small proportion also flows via the Taunton & Bridgewater Canal, from Firepool (Taunton) to Bridgwater dock, as another parallel path.
The Environment Agency were installing additional pipe work and pumps, at Curry moor pumping station, to move additional water from the flooded moors, into the Tone.
