In the interview, Naravane categorically stated that India had not lost any territory during the India-China standoff and remained in the same position as before the tensions began. He emphasized that the disengagement agreement was based on the principle of mutual and equal security, aimed at ensuring stability along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Naravane underlined firmly that “not an inch” of Indian territory had been lost.
The Lok Sabha erupted in chaos after Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi attempted to quote from what he claimed was former Army chief General M M Naravane’s memoir during the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah objected, stating that the book, Four Stars of Destiny, had not been published and accused Gandhi of misleading the House. Rahul Gandhi maintained that the excerpts were authenticated and later clarified he was quoting from a published article. Outside Parliament, Gandhi alleged the government was blocking the book’s release due to its critical content.
