In the quiet Dutch settlement of Sleepy Hollow, superstitious schoolteacher *Ichabod Crane* falls for wealthy Katrina Van Tassel. His rival, the strong and mischievous **Brom Bones**, torments him.

At a big harvest party, ghost stories are told — especially about the terrifying **Headless Horseman**, a ghostly Hessian soldier who rides at night searching for his lost head.

On his way home, Ichabod is chased by the Horseman. He barely reaches the church bridge (where the ghost supposedly can't cross), but the Horseman throws a flaming pumpkin at him, knocking him off his horse.

The next day, Ichabod disappears. Only his hat and a shattered pumpkin are found near the bridge. Most believe the Headless Horseman took him, but many suspect Brom Bones played a prank — especially since Brom soon marries Katrina and smirks whenever the story is mentioned.

A classic spooky, humorous American tale. 🎃
