For the first time, federal guidance is explicitly warning against "highly processed" foods—aka ultra-processed formulations designed for shelf life, not human health.
Why this matters for your labs:
Your body doesn't possess the enzymes to "decode" industrial formulations the same way it handles real food. Ultra-processed foods (UPFs) bypass your natural satiety signals, spiking insulin and inflammation even if the calorie count looks "normal."
