Welcome back to the workbench where we try to make things — and today we’re checking in on Revell’s 1971 Olds 442… or what we’ve been calling the Faux 442. It’s still that Cutlass Granny gave us at 22, just dressed up to look like something a little more serious.

This episode is a quick but important progress update as the build moves into the final stretch. Decals are going down, small details are getting locked in, and we’re putting together the final punch list needed to bring this project across the finish line.

With the next update likely showing the completed car, today is all about dialing in the last visual details and making the final decisions that will define the finished look.

🔧 Assemble and weather front suspension
🛠️ Finish custom exhaust and decide on turnout vs open mufflers
🔩 Fill unused tailpipe mounting holes
🚗 Install glass, interior, chassis & final assembly components

This stage is all about the small details that transform a clean build into a believable car. From mismatched tires to subtle trim decisions, everything ties back to the story of a well-used, personally modified street machine.
