In the Department of Chemistry, Igor Lednev’s laboratory is a worldwide research leader in developing a novel universal method for identifying body fluid traces for forensic purposes based on Raman spectroscopy. The patented technology is currently under commercialization via a university spinoff start-up company: SupreMEtric LLC. Prototypes of the instrument will soon be tested in several forensic police laboratories around the country.
