"When you learn to issue energy from your whole body, you want to get as much power from your legs, or the shifting action, as you can. You want to avoid pushing with just the arms. Not only are the arms weaker than the legs, but they are located above your partner's center of gravity. When you start with your arms, you are in danger of losing your own balance when pushing as it is easy to overextend when pushing with the arms only. Starting your push with the arms and upper body also leaves out the valuable principal of leverage. "
