Learn how to make delicious Mawa Gulkand Peda at home – a rich Indian sweet stuffed with rose petal preserve and flavored with cardamom. This festive mithai is perfect for Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali, Holi, Raksha Bandhan, or any special occasion.
In this video, I’ll share step-by-step instructions, tips, and tricks to make soft and melt-in-mouth pedas with a surprise gulkand filling. Easy to make, yet tastes just like halwai-style sweets!

Ingredients:
1 tbsp ghee
1/2 cup fully packed mawa
1/8th (half of 1/4th cup) cup fine sugar.
1/4th tsp cardamom powder
For gulkand filling:
1 tbsp gulkand
1 tbsp Dessicated coconut
1 tbsp mixed dry fruits, finely chopped
Method:
In a pan (preferably non stick), heat ghee, add in mawa and sugar. Continue to cook this mixture on low flame until the mixture thickens and ghee starts to leave the sides of the pan. Mawa/ khoya will get a nice deep golden Color. Let the mixture turn warm. Once warm, add In the cardamom powder and yellow food color ( if using) and mix thoroughly. Set aside to cool completely.
While the mixture is resting, make the gulkand stuffing. For making stuffing, simply mix all the ingredients for making gulkand stuffing and make small balls ( around 1/2 tsp each). This will make the centre for mawa peda.
Now make small lemon size balls from the mawa mixture, flatten a bit, fill in the gulakand stuffing, seal the edges , roll into a ball then again slight flatten it to make a peda. Similarly make all the pedas, and your stuffed mawa gulkand pedas are ready, just like the ones you get in mithai shops, but better (trust me).
Garnish the pedas with silver warq, sliced pistachios, dry fruits or rose petals and serve.
Tips: gulkand is naturally very sweet. If you like more sweet add in 1/4th cup sugar instead of 1/8th cup sugar.
