Описание: In the mid-1990s, the world of hip-hop was fractured by a bitter rivalry between East Coast and West Coast artists, personified by its two biggest superstars: Tupac Shakur (representing the West Coast) and The Notorious B.I.G., or Biggie Smalls (representing the East Coast). This rivalry turned deadly. On September 7, 1996, Tupac Shakur was shot in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas after attending a Mike Tyson boxing match. He died six days later at the age of 25. His murder was never solved. Six months later, on March 9, 1997, Biggie Smalls was also killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles after attending a music industry party. He was 24. His murder also remains unsolved. The murders of these two hip-hop icons have spawned countless theories and conspiracy theories. The most prevalent theory is that the murders were a direct result of the East Coast-West Coast rivalry. Some believe Biggie was involved in Tupac's murder, and that Biggie's murder was an act of retaliation. Another theory involves Suge Knight, the head of Tupac's label, Death Row Records, who was in the car with Tupac when he was shot. Some have suggested Knight orchestrated the murder of Tupac and possibly Biggie to gain financial control. Police investigations in both Las Vegas and Los Angeles have been criticized as flawed and hampered by a code of silence within the hip-hop community. Though numerous books, documentaries, and investigations have attempted to uncover the truth, no one has ever been convicted for the murders. The deaths of Tupac and Biggie remain a tragic and unsolved chapter in American music history.
