History of the pagoda

The ancient and historical Dhanoth Pagoda was built in the year 240 of the religious era, enshrining two hairs and twenty-four relics of Gautama Buddha. With the support of King Suttathiri Masoka, the monk Ashin Jattakalay built a pagoda in the village, and gave it the name Dunagaha Pagoda. Later, the pagoda was renovated into a Thintay Pagoda and the name was changed to Dhanoth Pagoda, according to the chronicles of that Buddha.
According to the history of Dhanoth Pagoda, it was renovated in 1811 by King Badon (Bodaw Pagoda). The renovation of Dhanoth Pagoda by successive Burmese kings was done in the year 715 of the Kawza Era by King Banya Oo of Hanthawaddy and his wife and they donated a canopy. In the year 756 of the Kawza Era, by order of King Sutha Soma Rajadharaj, the chief of Dhanoth Pagoda, 'Thab', enshrined 45 gold and silver pagodas and built a pagoda about 45 feet high and donated a canopy.
In the year 926, King Bayintnaung rebuilt the pagoda, which was 90 cubits high, donated a bronze umbrella, and completely covered the pagoda with gold. #wikipedia

The Kyaik Kethar Santaw Gye Pagoda is located in Kabin Village, Twante Township, Yangon Region. Kabin Village is also known as the old town of Pakkharawatty, the birthplace of Tapussa and Ballika. According to the Mawkun Kabbama inscription located in the pagoda premises, the 8 Santaws that were to be worshipped in the Shwedagon Pagoda carried by Tapussa and Ballika were built along the Dala Tawgyi Range (now Kunchangon Township, Kawhru Township, Twante Township), and there were 9 Santaw Gye Pagodas that were worshipped.
