One of the most effective cable exercises for shoulders and lower traps is the Y-raise . Although the lower trouts may not be considered shoulders themselves, as you will see with the delts , they do play a role in shoulder health.
To perform this exercise, stand facing a cable machine with the cables at shoulder height, then grasp the handles and press them outward and upward in a Y-shape, keeping your arms straight and squeezing your shoulder blades together. This motion specifically targets the lower trapezius muscles, which are responsible for downward rotation and depression of the scapula, as well as the deltoids and rotator cuff muscles.
