Campaign intro:

The clans of Rhûn are in disarray, squabbling amongst themselves, and constantly at each other’s throats. Sauron has sought dominion over the steppes through corrupting their ways and rallying them to war as vassals of Mordor The East is embroiled in a civil war; the once unified empire of the East is fractured between the clans loyal to Sauron, those who maintain their own sovereignty, and the fools who took to heart the words of the Blue Wizards.

At the very centre of this struggle stands the clan of the Rhúrim, the largest and most powerful tribe in all Rhûn. Annointed by the Dark Lord as the ultimate claimant of lordship over the steppes, the Rhúrim are at odds with all their neighbouring clans. Now, their assignment is to seize control over all Rhûn and to prepare a unified, Easterling war machine to strike at Mordor’s enemies in the west. The Sea of Rhûn and its surrounding lands are the most bountiful in Middle Earth, allowing the Rhûrim the ability to establish an economy even both havens together would fail to match. And the elite Lôke-Rim units are more than a match for all but the Free Peoples' greatest warriors.

War is innate to the harsh plains of Rhûn. There’s opportunity in service to Sauron. However, the turmoil of the East is not just about dominion. Equally, it is a struggle for purpose. A road to union is a path of the sword. The quest of the Rhúrim is to find out at whom the sword is to be swung. In the end, they must choose where they believe their long-desired survival and security can be found. For the power of Sauron is not the only will at work in Rhûn.
