This horse is dealing with severe juvenile arthritis in both hocks, compounded by a club foot on the right front. In this video, we walk through the full lameness evaluation, flexion testing, and radiographic findings, revealing significant damage to the third tarsal bone, abnormal joint margins, and early fusion in the distal hock joints.
We also perform steroid injections targeting the tarsometatarsal and distal intertarsal joints to manage pain and support performance while these joints progress toward fusion. Treatment options like Osphos, Shockwave, or surgical debridement are also discussed, along with the importance of individualized conservative care in juvenile arthritis cases.
