I think solar notes in perfumes split into a two of themes:
*** Benzyl salicylate: a very basic, cheap, single synthetic chemical that mimics / is a volatile facet of white florals.
*** More complex notes that you associate with summer, sunshine, light, warmth, holidays / vacations, sand, beach, cocktails, tropical settings etc.
