The Boeing E-4B, also knows as "The Doomsday Plane"
is an airborne command post operated by the US Air Force.
In case of war or a national crises, the E-4B is serves as a flying office for the US president and secretary of defense. Once onbord, the president and crew can launch nuclear weapons and manage a war from the air. The E-4B is built to withstand the electromagnetic pulse from a nuclear explosion. It can also eject an 8 kilometer long antenna out of the tail, to enable around-the-world communication. The E-4B is also capable of air-to-air refuling.
To create the E-4B series, four Boeing 747-200B were specially built.
The plane also goes under the names: "Nightwatch", "Doomsday plane" and "The Flying Pentagon".
