Design 14 - Contemporary Kathak by Anjali Patil and company
Design 14 has already been successfully presented both at home in Canada and on the international stage. It has sparked the interest of presenters because the 60-minute presentation uses the rare 14 beat taal. The piece consists of 4 group choreographies, and reflects the strong energies, tensions and struggles of power and inner conflict.
Design 14 was created in 2012 through support from Ontario Arts Council and the City of Ottawa. The piece and its excerpts were specifically designed for touring and have been performed in various venues including Dusk Dances as part of the biennial Canada Dance Festival, the Shenkman Arts Centre (Ottawa) and prestigious venues and festivals in Pune and Bangalore, India.
Design 14 requires a travelling team of 5 dancers, one lighting technician and one stage assistant.
Technical Requirements & Specifications
• Minimal stage with dance floor (20’ X 20’), basic sound and lighting plot
• minimum 2 hours of on stage technical rehearsal
• The company will travel with 5 dancers, 1 lighting technician and 1 stage assistant
