The UK's first Wanzl eGate?!

Описание: Here we have what might just be UK's first Wanzl eGate! This is rather strangely located at Lidl Great Yarmouth, which makes no sense, since Lidl never normally install entrance gates in the UK. It doesn't really help with people-flow either, since it's placed between two sets of doors which are on entrance-only.

The eGate looks absolutely stunning in comparison to most automatic gates, yet it released around 12 years ago according to a promotional video. I presume that the colour variant came out at a later date, as there's no mention of it in the original video.

This is the first Wanzl gate I've forced open, and I must say, I think the way ITAB gates handle forced openings is far safer. I had to put an awful lot of force on this for it to barely open, whereas an ITAB AlphaGate would've flew straight to -90° with the slightest bit of force, provided that the panic force setting was at its lowest. Even if it's set higher, the gates still aren't that hard to open. The gate also immediately closed, whereas an AlphaGate would remain open for either five or ten seconds, depending on the setting.

I find the backflow announcement rather dumb, since the checkouts just have more gates on them, although they aren't alarmed. At least it doesn't play the siren instead, like the Technoport does. I will also say here that the force open alarm is far too load, as I estimate that it reaches around 100dB. It would definitely serve it's purpose far quieter. I much prefer the gentle beeping ITAB gates emit when forced open.

The Lidl staff member outside asked me to not push the gate again incase it damaged it near the end of the video, however I didn't have a chance to explain that it's a feature. I talked to him off-camera before I filmed this, and he was very interested when I told him the ridiculous rarity of this gate. He was also fine with me filming it.
