Описание: Walking Guangzhou at night through Zhujiang New Town, the gleaming financial district that appeared from nothing in under two decades, along the Pearl River waterfront, past the Haixinsha stadium island, across the cable-stayed bridge, and under Canton Tower lit up in full colour against the black sky. This is the Guangzhou that doesn't get talked about a night skyline that competes with any city on earth.

The scale of Zhujiang New Town at night is genuinely disorienting. Glass towers reflecting each other across wide empty boulevards, the river running dark between two illuminated banks, the Canton Tower rotating through its light sequence overhead. During the day this district is all business. After dark it becomes something else a light show built into the fabric of the city, running every night for nobody in particular and everybody at once.

Guangzhou (广州) is the capital of Guangdong Province and one of China's three largest cities, home to around 18 million people in the urban core. Zhujiang New Town ,Pearl River New Town is the city's primary CBD, developed from the 1990s onward as a planned financial and cultural district on the eastern bank of the Pearl River. It contains Guangzhou's tallest buildings, its major cultural institutions including the Opera House designed by Zaha Hadid, and the 600-metre Canton Tower which held the record as the world's tallest tower briefly upon completion in 2010. The Pearl River waterfront promenade connecting the CBD to Haixinsha Island is one of the most popular evening destinations in the city.
