Описание: Valon polku (Ljusstigen in Swedish and Path of Light in English) is an annual art installation along the Aura River in Turku. 2024 marked the fourth time it was held and it has quickly become an event people look forward to. The idea behind the art is quite simple once you think about it, but brilliant none the less. The installations use the natural darkness of our winters as the canvas on which light of all different kinds can be used. So far we've had next to no snow in Turku this year, but luckily we had a couple of days of light snow around the event!

Kari Kola, the Artistic Director of the event, describe it as such: "The unique river landscape serves as a magnificent canvas for light art. The river, its surroundings and the open views create the best possible setting for the 17 works that are included this time."

and in the city's own words: "The Path of Light is a light art spectacle arranged by the City of Turku. It consists of a great light event and seasonal lighting on display throughout the darkest winter season. The inspiration for the Path of Light was drawn from Turku itself, its stories, atmosphere and the surrounding landscapes. The Path of Light has been part of the city's development since 2021.

This year, all the works were situated along the River Aura, above it or, for the first time, within the river itself. The river, its surroundings and the open views created the best possible setting for the 17 artworks. Artworks featured in the Path of Light were complemented by a diverse supplementary programme."
