Overview
We have a collection of images (e.g., face images, product photos) stored in a large dataset. The goal is to reduce storage or speed up tasks like classification by:Applying matrix decompositions (SVD or PCA) to compress images while retaining most visual information.
Reconstruct images from reduced features, evaluating quality vs. compression ratio.
Introduce feature engineering concepts for advanced usage (e.g., these compressed features can
feed into a recognition model).
Goal: Realistically used in image compression, feature extraction for face recognition, or dimensionality reduction in big data pipelines.
