Betancuria is a picturesque village in the heart of Fuerteventura and is considered one of the most beautiful on the island. Founded in 1404 by Norman settlers, it was once the capital of the island. The village is located in a valley surrounded by mountains and exudes a special sense of tranquility.
The white houses and cobbled streets give the village a unique charm. Particularly worth seeing is the church of Santa Maria, which was built in the 15th century and features elements of Gothic, Mudéjar and Renaissance architecture.
Betancuria is definitely worth a visit if you are in Fuerteventura.
