Food Losses and Waste in Fishing Vessels

Описание: Food loss and waste are heavily dependent on the specific conditions and local situation in a given country or culture. In low-income countries food losses result from wide-ranging managerial and technical limitation in harvesting techniques, storage, transportation, processing, cooling facilities, infrastructure, packaging and marketing systems.
The main sectors of concern are small- and medium-scale fisheries, agriculture production and processing.
In this interview, Frank Chopin, Senior Fishery Industry Officer, Fishing Operations and Technology Branch (FIRO) of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), addresses food losses and waste in fishing vessels and what FAO is doing to reduce these losses globally.
