NOTE - Barbara Rylska is a Polish comedy actress and singer, most prolific in the years 1965-80 and specializing in the Roaring Twenties' hot dance style. Her LP record „Sex Appeal" (issued in Warsaw c. 1967) was a sensation in a communist Poland, where any such public expression of nostalgia for pre-war "blood-sucking rotten capitalism" was a rarity. Barbara Rylska, very accurately with enormous taste, artistry and also with a refined sense of humour -- in a typical manner of the 192Os - performed the most popular „schlagers" of Warsaw of the years 1925-30.

Artur Gold's hit of 1926: „Ta mała jest wstawiona" (She's Tipsy, That Gal!) was first performed as a shimmy in the theatre „Perskie Oko" by grande diseuse of Warsaw cabarets of 1920s -- Zula Pogorzelska (who is considered the symbol of the flapper style in Polish inter-war song). Barbara Rylska -- who happens to be a very similar physical type - performs this great song with power of a dynamite and the perfect sense of pastiche.

Text of Andrzej Włast is a masterpiece of 1920s pure-nonsense. The story is about the girl who hardly puts together, in her tipsy mind, the events of the evening, while she is - to the deep disapproval of the trespassers -- trying to walk back home from the party.

Andrzej Włast (aka Gustaw Baumritter) born 1895 in Łódź, murdered in Warsaw Ghetto in 1942 or 1943.

Artur Gold, brother of a famous composer and bandleader Henryk Gold; their father was a violinist in the Warsaw Philharmonia, and via their mother's side, they both belonged to the multi-generation klezmer and musiacian Warsaw family Melodysta. Artur was born in 1897 in Warsaw and was murdered in 1943 in Treblinka. Before his death and to increase the his suffering and of the other Jews, nazis made Arthur Gold form a small music band. He, with his violin, stood on a little pedestal in a green frock and with the clown's enormous bow tie, playing his most beautiful tangos and foxtrotts as his farewell to those, who were walking to the death chambers.
