Drawing from 1 Samuel 16, John 9, and Ephesians 5, this sermon uses light as its unifying theme — showing that just as God bypassed outward appearances to anoint David (and ultimately Christ) by looking at the heart, Jesus as the light of the world both illuminates and blinds, revealing truth to those with eyes to receive it and hardening those who refuse it. Paul's call in Ephesians 5 to "walk as children of light" is the sermon's practical anchor: believers have been made light in Christ and are therefore called to bear fruit in what is good, right, and true — exposing darkness, discerning God's will wisely, and living as a living summons to the world to "awake, O sleeper."
