Since the introduction of multitasking in modern computers MIDI clock jitter isa big issue. MAC OS seems to have solved the problem. Monteres 12.6.1 is doing quite well as you can se in the first part of this demo.
I use exactly the same CUBASE version comparably fast notebooks. The benchmark of the M! is even a bit lower compared to the i7 machine. Both with 16 GB RAM.
RME Fireface UFX was used as MIDI connection. Elektron Rytm was doing the measuring clock slave.
The MAC behaves absolutely consistent. There is minor jitter only in the first 2 bars.
In the WIN PC instead there is constant jitter range of about 0.7 BPM per bar. A value that isabsolutely unsacceptable. And this is despite the fact that CUBASE and other DAWs internally work sample accurately. But since the MIDI clock is generated by the OS DAW change is no option; the only thing you can do is using an external clock device that is generating MIDI clock from audio signals. So for these systems you need external clock generator from manufacturers like EXPERT SLEEPERS or REST UND MAIER.
