Okay, fine, it was just an explosive scene transition. Fooled you! ... ... ...of course I didn't... (MAYBE if it wasn't two years and some change since this became general knowledge... ... ...okay, sure, not even then. You're no fun, you know that?!)
Honestly, having seen it for real, I'm more worried NOW that the Great Zapfish is perched like that than I was with it being missing... the town seemed to have been getting along fine without it, after all! It's like... somehow... the game can just keep going on in an infinite and only allegedly unstable limbo until acted upon by a player and/or some event flags!

I guess that's how we're going to play it, then. The Squid Sisters are apparently keen to maintain their own public ignorance while reporting the events. I suppose this explains the whole media blackout on events that seemed less likely when it was just Cap'n Cuttlefish sending Agent 3 into parts of Inkopolis to do battle with a menace that nobody seemed to see fit to acknowledge existing, even when it hovered menacingly overhead, launching indiscriminate Inkstrikes at any signs of movement below.
I don't actually know that this sequence actually cares what time of day it is, though I don't know if it'd have changed to reflect an ongoing Splatfest in this one particular case like the title screen usually would... it might've actually been even more odd if it did, but that would be a fairly odd thing to have clairvoyance of future events just to wait for and see happen.
After it's all said and done, we can now see that the Great Zapfish is now a permanent fixture of the title screen, and it really IS just a matter of everyday life to catch it staring down on you like the rest of the plaza's skyline fixtures. (Is this really any "better" for the Zapfish itself than what Octavio was doing with it? ...I mean, maybe? At least until he crammed it into his robot, and it was still free to lounge about unconfined...)

Part of what gave me such pause for all this time was the relatively inelegant editing process involved... there's relatively little pomp and circumstance, being the hero that quelled a revolution that never actually happened, but there's more than just a firm handshake and a fond farewell... actually, wait, I never even got THAT!
Basically, like with the post-boss add-ons, I decided to cut straight to the point, which has its own kind of unexpected and understated visual charm. (The humble and unembellished jump cut really doesn't get the respect it deserves most of the time.)
Now DJ Octavio is behind bars... er... glass? I guess that makes sense, though, because Octarians and Inklings alike could just slip through grates, much less regular prison bars, although I wonder how that globe remains oxygenated. If he's not crying out for much more than the indignity of it all, I guess I don't need to worry about any war crimes on the Cap'n's part... yet... we'll see...
Less immediately explicable is the floating monolith that lets us revisit the credits whenever we'd like, but it's still a nice thing to have around.

The REAL holdup, even now, if you can believe it... was the part where I cash in that scroll with Sheldon, because... of its two weapon unlocks, the second comes at the then-maximum Level 20... and my multiplayer coverage never got that far, and I guess it makes sense I wasn't keen to dig through the ocean of capture content to fish it out.
Well, when you put it like THAT, it DOES seem silly to postpone this for two years of NOT digging into all that stuff... but I believe at least one, if not TWO other bosses had similar hangups on my end, and I don't even know that I satisfactorily resolved my editor's anguish on the matter... (now get back to work, video-monkey! ...wait, I can't talk to me like that, can I?! ... ... ...I should go on strike...)
---
Well, if nothing else, I've made good on my "promise"... er... to myself... to... not slack off well into the release of Splatoon 2... which... I mean, what excuse WOULD there be at that point, huh? Now, I'd better get Kraken on the rest... ... ...
...
... ...
... ... ...
Nope, not apologizing. Move along.
Повторяем попытку...
