Amol Nirgudkar (CEO of Patient Prism) interviews Elliot Zibel (co-founder of Select Dental Management) about how this dental service organization (DSO) powered through the pandemic to grow and become stronger. Over the last four years, Select Dental Management has grown to forty affiliated dental practices.
"COVID forced us all, as a leadership team, to work together and solve problems and then define what we wanted to be when we [Select Dental Management] grow up. I had gotten to the point where I couldn’t do everything myself, so we built the team out and developed strong leadership," says Zibel.
Leveraging Patient Prism's AI technology platform to improve patient acquisition and growth was one of the factors contributing to this DSO's success. Another was selecting the "right" partners to affiliate with.
"We are growth oriented," says Zibel. "We want to grow personally, professionally, and at the practice level. I firmly believe in that. Being able to communicate who we are and what we are is what attracts like-minded people."
Zibel says one of the big advantages the DSO has is its group data. DSO leadership can compare how different affiliate practices are doing with various services and then show that data to practices that are flagging in some areas. The flagging practices are more amenable, then, to learning the best practices others are doing. That being said, the overarching mission is helping its dentist partners in improving the quality of patient care and the patient experience.
"We don't grow if our patients aren't getting better care and better outcomes," says Zibel.
