In order to find equation of Parabola in a case when Focus point and Directrix equation is given ,you just need to use the definition of parabola concept.
According to the definition of Parabola
|PF| =| PM|
PF --Distance between a point on parabola and Focus given.
PM -- Distance between a point on Parabola and Directrix
Find PF:
Distance between point P(x,y) and Focus(-3,1) can be found by using distance formula.
Find PM:
Distance between point P(x,y) and line that is directrix can be found by using perpendicular distance formula between a point and a line.
After finding PF and PM just equate them according to definition of parabola and simplify.
