Sacramento State football is getting a new home at Cal Expo after the board approved an agreement to redevelop the former horse racing site. The plan will transform the racetrack grandstand into a stadium with more capacity, parking, and accessibility than the Hornets’ current campus venue. Horse racing ended at Cal Expo earlier this year due to rising costs and declining interest, opening the door for redevelopment. The new Sac State football stadium is expected to open in fall 2026, with renderings and planning documents coming soon.
