Movie Info: PRIMATE follows college student Lucy (Johnny Sequoyah) as she returns to her family home in Hawaii for the summer, reuniting with her father Adam (Oscar winner Troy Kotsur) and their beloved pet chimpanzee, Ben. The idyllic vacation quickly becomes a nightmare when Ben is bitten by a rabid animal and transforms from a gentle companion into a savage, aggressive monster. Lucy and her friends are forced to barricade themselves in the family's infinity pool—the only place the chimp cannot reach—as they desperately try to outsmart and survive the ferocious primate's relentless, slasher-like attacks. Critics who saw the film at Fantastic Fest are calling it a "good old-fashioned gorefest" that takes heavy inspiration from Stephen King's Cujo. The film marks the first from Paramount's new production deal with former DC Films head, Walter Hamada.
