Time lapse construction of my Sakura Dress.
Cardcaptor Sakura was one of the main anime's I grew up on and I've always wanted to dress as her. Now that I'm cosplaying, and I've reached such a level with my sewing, I'm excited to be adding her to my cosplay closet!
I chose to make the iconic dress from the first Opening "Catch You, Catch Me."
The dress is 3 circle skirts and a modified bodice. The bodice is alerted from one I got out of one of my Otome no Sewing books, Vol 6 I think. The original pattern is a button up the front. I changed it to a zip back for my Chibitalia remake, and then removed that and deepened the neckline for this dress. This dress actually fits comfortably so that it has no closures and slips on and off. The 2 white under skirts are sewn to the waist and have 5" ruffles.
The dimensions of the circles skirts are 7.5" inner, 29.5" outer for the pink (this ended up being too big and I have two pleats in the back to fit the bodice) and 7" inner, 29" outer for the white (this worked a bit better, but I probably actually could have gone to a 6.5" inner.) The skirt lengths are 22".
Also, yes, I recorded this while wearing my jammies. It was Friday, and a lazy day, and I just finished cleaning my entire sewing room before starting work on this dress. I like to be comfortable as I work, and didn't feel like getting dressed just to sit in my sewing room. The robe is soft and comfy and warm and my house is cold and I am a snake. Bite me.
