Along with being the current chairman of Google’s parent company, Dr. Hennessy also served as the tenth president of Stanford University. Being a visionary for the future, he was among the first leaders to establish Silicon Valley as the global hub for computer technology and hence is fondly referred to as the “Godfather of Silicon Valley”. Dr. Hennessy won the 2017 Turing Award for developing the Reduced Instruction Set Computer (RISC) architecture, which is now used in most of new computer chips.
