The Indian Railways is set to reduce short-distance train travel times drastically. In July, trial runs for Vande Metro trains covering routes of 100 to 150 kilometres will commence while the trials for Vande Bharat Sleeper trains will begin in May, targeting longer routes exceeding 1,000 kilometres.
