OrKidstra’s KidSingers virtually perform “The Children’s Blessing Song,” written by Cree-Dene composer Sherryl Sewepagaham. The song fosters a sense of strength, love, protection, and peace.
Sherryl Sewepagaham is of Cree-Dene ancestry from the Little Red River Cree Nation in northern Alberta, Canada. Sherryl was nominated for a Juno award in 2005 for her work with Asani and Indigenous Music Award in 2015 for her debut solo album, “Splashing the Water Loudly.” She holds a Bachelor of Music Therapy (Capilano University) and a Bachelor of Education (University of Alberta). Sherryl Sewepagaham visited OrKidstra in September 2019 and was gracious enough to share her music with the KidSingers.
