Dreams I'm Never Gonna See is the title piece in Brian Lee Knopp's take-no-prisoners, full-contact collection of personal essays. Whether dealing with a 1920's era Flapper ghost, shearing a sheep face-to-face with a live wolf, praising his personal hero Philippe Petit, defending a creative madman and his magical cat, exploring underground Disney World circa 1979, or re-living the heydays of the central Florida music scene between 1975-1985, Knopp offers a hilarious and thoughtful first-hand account of a weird world that begs for his justification while promising personal redemption, yet fails entertainingly on both accounts.

Brian Lee Knopp is a retired private investigator and the author of the acclaimed 2009 memoir Mayhem in Mayberry: Misadventures of a P.I. in Southern Appalachia (Cosmic Pigbite Press), which was a SIBA Award finalist featured on C-SPAN and the top seller in 2010 at Malaprop's Bookstore/Cafe—the first time ever that an indie published, locally produced title bested all mass-market and mainstream titles. He also created and contributed to the popular 2012 collaborative comedic novel Naked Came the Leaf Peeper (Burning Bush Press). A former professional sheep shearer with an M.A. Degree in English Literature from the University of Texas at Austin, Knopp has taught nonfiction writing for the Great Smokies Writing Program, and his work has appeared in Hippocampus Magazine (2024 Pushcart Prize nomination), Stoneboat Journal, WNC Magazine, Now & Then: The Appalachian Magazine, The Great Smokies Review, and in several regional magazines and anthologies. He lives in Asheville.
