A career in contaminated land is a great way to employ practical science and engineering skills to solve environmental problems in an important and expanding industry. Because of our industrial past contaminated land is widespread in the UK and internationally, and being able to manage it responsibly is vital in protecting human and environmental health, as well as promoting sustainable development of new homes, school, hospitals and anything else!
There are many routes through the industry (be sure to check out the other career path videos for more information!) and these videos are only a small sample of the varied and exciting opportunities available!

Thanks to Anna Hitchmough (RSK), Chris Swainston (Soils Limited) and Matt Wright (WSP), and the Lapworth Museum in Birmingham for hosting. For more resources and information about a career in geosciences check out www.geolosoc.org.uk/geologypathways.
This video focuses on professionals working as contaminated land consultants. This means they are brought in by organisations to provide specialist knowledge and skills to help guide them with their environmental liabilities and assess the suitability of sites for redevelopment. The interviewees are at different stages of their career and are offering advice (which could be really useful for interviews!) and answering questions like:
What is your job and how did you get to where you are?
What qualifications do you need?
What does the job entail day to day?
What is your favourite part of the job?
What are the challenging parts of the job?
